Symptoms
SCR-331 fails on Gemalto TOP DL GX4 or Oberthur 5.5 Dual cards, or shows up as 'STCII Smart Card Reader' or 'USB Smart Card Reader'.
Likely cause
Firmware below 5.25 lacks support for newer card chips.
Fix
1. Device Manager > Smart card readers > right-click 'SCRx31 USB Reader' > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids. If &REV_ shows 0525, you are current - stop.
2. Otherwise download SCR331_non-ccid_to_ccid_update.zip from militarycac.com.
3. Unzip; update the driver from the 'driver' folder.
4. Run FWUPDATE.EXE from the 'app' folder, accept defaults.
5. Reboot.
