Symptoms

Browser prompts for a certificate but the list is empty, or no prompt appears at all and the page returns 403.7.

Likely cause

DoD root and intermediate certificates are not installed.

Fix

1. Install the current DoD certs - on Windows use InstallRoot 5.6 from militarycac.com/dodcerts.htm, on Mac use the AllCerts.p7b plus individual RootCert3-6.cer files. 2. Run InstallRoot as Administrator if it errors out. 3. Verify via Internet Options > Content > Certificates > Trusted Root Certification Authorities that DoD Root CA 3-6 are present. 4. Verify Intermediate Certification Authorities contains DOD ID, DOD EMAIL, and DOD SW CA entries.
