CAC reader does not pass through to AVD on Mac

Symptoms

CAC is read by the Mac but the AVD session never sees it; no certificate prompt inside the virtual desktop.

Likely cause

'Smart cards' device redirection is off in the workspace, or the reader is one of the models that does not redirect cleanly.

Fix

1. In Microsoft Remote Desktop, select the Army Desktop entry. 2. Connections > Edit PC. 3. Tick 'Use custom settings'. 4. Devices & Audio tab > tick 'Smart cards'. 5. Click Save, reopen the entry, uncheck Smart cards, save, then re-tick it and save again (this is a known toggle-to-bind workaround). If still failing, swap to a reader other than Zoweetek ZW-12026-1, Rocketek, or the IOGEAR USB-C reader - those have been reported broken inside AVD.
